SDRs - Software Defined Receivers
OK, so I previously wrote about SDRs.. and I decided eventually to purchase the SDRplay, an inexpensive SDR (around (£120), based on my requirements which are:
1. a SDR that will receive Medium Wave (at the HF end especially),
2. work well on the 48 metre band and
3. not overload with a Wellbrook loop antenna!
I need time to fully understand the SDRuno software and what the receiver can do. So the review will follow!
Also, I have wired up the rotator to the Wellbrook loop and have tried it out this evening. It helps to null out the noise. Interestingly the sky wave signals on MW do not attenuate as much as the ground wave signals. I can null out all my fairly close stations by turning the rotator, but not the stations from NL coming here by sky wave.
